What exactly is the Al-Qadir Trust case?
Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi, and their close advisers Zulfi Bukhari and Babar Awan have all been active in the Al-Qadir University Project Trust.
The former prime minister, his wife Bushra Bibi, and other PTI leaders are facing a NAB investigation over a settlement between the PTI administration and a property tycoon that allegedly resulted in a 190 million pound loss to the national exchequer.
According to the charges, Khan and others accused allegedly modified Rs50 billion — 190 million pounds at the time — provided to the government by Britain’s National Crime Agency (NCA).
They are also accused of improperly obtaining about 458 kanals of land in Mouza Bakrala, Sohawa, to create Al Qadir University.
According to documents, Khan, Bushra Bibi, Bukhari, and Awan established the Al-Qadir University Project Trust in order to establish the ‘Al-Qadir University’ for the purpose of providing ‘excellent education’ in the Sohawa tehsil in the Jhelum region of Punjab.
“Bani Gala House, Islamabad” has been listed as the trust’s office address.
Later, the trustees signed an agreement with Bahria Town to accept donations from the latter.
The Trust was given 458 kanal, four marla, and 58 square feet for the proposal by Bahria Town. Bushra Bibi signed the MoU with Bahria Town, which will take effect in March 2019.
